Overview
The Auto-Project feature allows the Project Control user to have Project Masters automatically added when Sales Orders are added in Rootstock.
- Automatically create a Project for each Sales Order based on control flag settings and user definitions and attach the Project to the Sales Order as the Default Project.
- Automatically assign the Project to each Sales Order Line.
- Support Centralized Sales where multiple Sales Order Lines are added for differing Inventory Divisions from the Sales Order Division.
- Automatically set the Project status to complete based on certain conditions and control flag settings.

A new tab has been added to the Sales Order Control screen.
Under the Auto-Project tab are the following fields
Auto Create Project for Each SO Header: When checked, a Project Master will be auto-created in the Inventory Division defined on the SO Control record (see below) & set as the SO Header Default Project. If the Inv Division for Auto Project setting differs, it will add a Project Master in that Division as well.
Initialize All Lines To Header Project: When checked, the Project field for each SO Line will be set to the Default Project set on the SO Header.
All Lines Must Use Header Project: When checked, all SO Lines will be set to the SO Header Default Project and cannot be overridden.
Complete Projects at Final Shipment: When checked, the Project Completed Indicator is automatically set when all SO Lines are shipped for this Project, which effectively closes the Project from further activity (and from appearing in Project dropdowns).
Auto Created Project Number Method: When Auto-Project is used, this defines the Project numbering method. Options are 'Set to Sales Order Number', 'Auto Number with Prefix' or 'Auto Number without Prefix'.
Project Number Prefix: When Auto Created Project Number Method is 'Auto Number with Prefix', this is where you define the Project prefix.
Inventory Division for Auto Projects: When using Auto-Project, this defines the Division in which the Project will be automatically added in. If, however, a SO Line is added for a different Inventory Division than this, the Project will also be added to that Division as well.
Next Project Number: When using Auto-Project, this field controls the numbering of Projects when Auto Created Project Number Method is 'Auto Number with Prefix' or 'Auto Number without Prefix'. Value entered must be an integer value greater than zero (defaults to 1).
Processing
Add the Sales Order and associated lines.You will note that the Project field is set to “Auto”, meaning that the Project will be auto-assigned when the order is saved.Upon Save, the Project Master will be created in the appropriate Inventory Division(s), all SO Lines will set accordingly, and the Default Project (under the Advanced section) will be set with the new Project Number.
