Overview

Inventory by Lot Number provides a view of the Lot Numbers in inventory for specific Lot Controlled Item Numbers. In addition to Lot Number, each Inventory Record is identified by several other attributes. To record Lot Numbers for an Item, the Lot Control indicator must be checked on the Engineering Item Master record. The user can also add the Inventory by Lot Number record for an Item directly through UI and data loader. Furthermore, the system also allows the user to specify the lot number for designated items at the time of Work Order Receipt – and allows different lot numbers to be used for multiple receipts on a given WO.  Rootstock provides the ability to define an Item as both Lot and Serial Controlled.

User-added image  NOTE  The functionality to specify the Lot Number at the time of Work Order Receipt can be enabled by checking the "Allow Lot to be Entered at WO Receipt " checkbox under the 'Misc CC Overrides' tab on the Inventory Item Master page.

Application

Lot control is used when a manufactured or purchased item requires traceability by a lot number. It differs from Serial Control in that it may include a quantity greater than 1 for any given Item Number while Serial Control always refers to a single item.
