Overview
Provides the ability to identify items by serial number. Views of Inventory Items that are serial controlled include unique serial numbers by item. In addition, if the item is also Lot controlled, the lot number is displayed.
Records are added when a serial controlled item is:
NOTE In addition to the Serial Number, each Inventory Record is identified by a number of other attributes.
Application
Used when each individual item must be identified with a unique serial number. Provides the means to replace one serialized item with another serialized item, and keeps track of all replacements with an easy view of the change history.
Records are unique by Item Number/Serial Number, therefore the same serial number may be used for different Item Numbers but can not be repeated for the same Item Number.

Inventory Items by Serial Number
This path takes the user to a listview, displaying item/serial records.
NOTE The item/serial records are historical audit records. So they cannot be deleted.
Clicking the 'New’ button brings the user to the ‘Add’ screen where a manual receipt of a serialized part can be recorded.
NOTE The Origin Code will always be ‘M’ (Manual) when using this function.
Fields
Origin Code: Origin Codes describe how the serial-controlled item was added to inventory.
(I) - Item added straight into inventory via Location Add.
(W) - Item added via a Work Order Receipt.
(P) - Item added via a Purchase Order Receipt.
(M) - Item added manually via new Serial Number add (this program).
The following Revision fields are available for add/edit, as well as Replacement Item and Replacement Serial Number.
NOTE When the record is saved, the following fields become visible:
Unique Device Identifier: The Unique Device identifier is not an editable field. It is populated by the UDI functionality when applicable.
Original Item Revision: The item's revision level at the time this Item Serial Number record was created, the date on which it first entered into Inventory.
Item Revision: Current Item Revision.
Last RMA Detail: RMA associated with this Serial Number.
Replacement Item: This is the Item that is replaced. The replacement process is explained under As Maintained Tab.
Replacement Item Serial Number: This is the Serial Number of the Item's replacement.
Number Of Times Reworked: The total number of completed rework orders for this Item/Serial Number.
Number Of Times Shipped: Total number of times this Item/Serial has been shipped.
Number Of Times Returned: Number of times returned after initial shipment.
Last RMA Disposition: Most recent RMA Disposition associated with this Serial Number.
Reference Number: Optional reference serial number, up to 30 characters in length.
Division: User's current Division.
Item Number: Inventory Item Number.
Serial Number: The unique Serial Number for this Item.

Stock Location Section
Location Div: The Division for this item.
Location Site: This value defines the Location Site for this Item/Serial record. It is set if items are added directly into inventory or added via a Purchase Order Receipt.
Location ID: This value defines the Location ID for this Item/Serial. It is set if items are added directly into inventory or added via a Purchase Order Receipt.
Stock Loc No: This value defines the stock Loc Number for this Item/Serial. It is set if the item is added directly into inventory or added via a Purchase Order Receipt.
Lot Number: Lot Number associated with this Item/Serial Number if the item is both lot and serial controlled.
Stock Loc Type: The Stock Loc Type for this item. Valid Values are: i) O (for on hand) ii) N (non-nettable) iii) C (for consigned) iv) V (for Vendor Managed Inventory -Not yet implemented).
Stock Add Date: This value defines the Stock Add Date for this Item/Serial. If Origin Code = 'I', this is set to the date item is added. This date is set if the Item is added directly into inventory or added via a Purchase Order Receipt.
Order Section
Displays the Purchase Order or Work Order information associated with this Serial Number, if any.
Displays both the original build structure and the maintained structure on the same screen.
Order Type Code: The type of the latest order that this serialized item was received. Valid values are
NOTE This field is not set when the serialized item is added via Inventory Location Add.
Order Div: The Division to which the latest order for this serialized item was received.
Order Site: The Site to which the latest order for this serialized item was received.
Order No: The latest Work Order or Purchase Order against which this serialized item was last received.
NOTE This field is not set when the serialized item is added via Inventory Location Add.
Order Line: The Purchase Order Line for this serialized item's latest Purchase Order Receipt. If this was not received from a Purchase Order, it is set to '0'.
Order Release: Reflects the Order Release number for the given Work Order or Purchase Order from which this serialized item was last received.
Order Add Date: The date on which the given serialized item was added to Inventory when added via a Work Order Receipt, Disassembly Work Order Receipt, or a Purchase Order Receipt.
Originating Order No: The original Work Order or Purchase Order against which this serialized item was received.
NOTE This field is not set when the serialized item is added via Inventory Location Add.
Originating Order Type: The type of order that originally "produced" this serial record. Valid values are:
Originating Order Line: If the originating order is a Purchase Order (Order Type = P), this reflects the Purchase Order Line number that the serialized item was received against.
NOTE This field is not set when the serialized item is added via Inventory Location Add.
Clicking on Related will provide a history for this Serialized Item.

Item History
Any item serial changes made to this part will be displayed here. When populated, clicking the ‘Name’ field will display any detail entered when the change was made.
As Built Tab
Displays original build structure.
As Maintained Tab
Displays the maintained structure of the serialized item. If one serialized item is damaged, it can be replaced with another Serial Number/Serialized Item.
The process of replacing the Serial Number is explained in the below example.
EXAMPLE Consider a Serialized Item (laptop) with Serial Number '1234' that needs to be replaced with another Serial Number '12340' already existing in the inventory.

The serialized item will be shown by clicking the '+' icon. From there, right-click on the serialized item and select Replace Component.

Now, in the pop-up which will appear, type and select the serialized item to be replaced with (in this example) the same serialized item, and enter the serial number (12340) to replace the current serial number. Then click Save.

After refreshing the page, the 'Replacement Item' will be updated with the respective item (laptop), and the 'Replacement Item Serial Number' will be updated to '12340'.

Displays both the original build structure and the maintained structure.
