Overview

This function supports the setup and processing to generate Forecast Demand from an Item Usage. As item transaction activity is entered to Rootstock, there is a usage history updated by year and period. This Usage history is used in the calculation of the forecast. Item where an Item History Usage Forecast might apply are item with high inventory turnover or high usage rates.

Application

An item has a high volume of usage and its forecasted demand can be calculated based on the item’s usage history.

Setup


Step 1:  System Setup > Division Master > Advanced Options Tab

Fields
 

Usage Forecast Method:  This defines the method by which usage forecast will be calculated.

  • Average of Prior Months:  Will average usage over the period defined.

  • Prior Year Month to Month:  Will take the usage from last year’s corresponding month.

Number of Prior Months for Average:  When 'Usage Forecast Method' is 'Average of Prior Months', this value defines the number of months to be used when calculating average usage.

Number of Months to Generate:  This defines the number of months that the Usage Forecast will be generated.

Fields
 

Include in Usage Forecast Run:  Checked means include in the Usage Forecast Run. Unchecked means will not be included in the Usage Forecast run.

Fields
 

Division:  Division in which the forecast is generate.

Usage Forecast Method:  Defaults from the Division Record. Can be overridden.

Number of Prior Months for Average:  Defaults from the Division Record. Can be overridden.

Number of Months to Generate:  Defaults from the Division Record. Can be overridden.
 

Buttons
 

Generate Forecast Demand:  Click on this button to generate the forecast demand records based on the entry made.
 

Viewing Generated Forecast Demand

Fields

 

Name:  Record identifier which is used to access the individual record.

Division:  Division identifier of the forecast record.

Forecast Order:  The forecast order number. Programmatically assigned. (See System Setup>Order Number Assign)

Status:  Status of the forecast Record. Item Usage Forecast records are Status=2, Firmed

Status Pick List:  Item Usage Forecast records are Status=2 Firmed.

Item Name:  The item name for which the forecast was generated.

Project:  Project for which the forecast was generated.

Quantity:  The net forecast demand.

Start Date:  The start date of the forecast period.

End Date:  The end date of the forecast period.

User-added image  NOTE  Forecast Demand Logic:  Usage Generated Forecast will calculate using “Net all demands against Forecast”. All demands are netted against a forecast. All demands are subtracted from the forecast demand until depleted and only the remainder is applied as demand in MRP.
