OverviewThe Material Requirements Plan is used as a daily focus for planners and buyers. The Material Plan output consists of screen views and reports indicating action that needs to be taken based on the coordination / balancing of Supply and Demand. The action required is in the form of managing exceptions, confirming plan recommendations and reconciling differences between the actual plan and the recommended plan (MRP). Managing, controlling and monitoring the plan ensures the material plans of the organization are met and if not met, identify the exception condition.
Users of the system should familiarize themselves with the definitions, terminology and codes referenced throughout the system. MRP and the system use a series of definitions and codes to define the sales, manufacturing and purchasing processes. The order by order view of these various definitions and codes provide a granular view of the supply and demand impact of any order. Using these variables as controls to sort and group orders enables the planner to see a broader picture across many orders based on some commonality.
