Overview
Sales Orders can be created within a Sales Contract using the Create Sales Order button or by creating the Sales Order via Sales Order Entry and associating the Sales Contract.
Application
To be used when wanting to associate a Sales Order to a Sales Contract.
Prerequisites
SO Control setup (refer to the Sales Order Control documentation)
Sales Contract (active status)
Navigation
- Sales Contracts Maintenance (not in Edit mode) - when creating Sales Order via Sales Contract
- Sales Order Entry - when creating Sales Order and manually associated the Sales Contract
Processing
Adding Sales Orders from the Sales Contract:
- Navigate to the Sales Contract.
- Click on the Create Sales Order button (a new window will appear).
- Select the Product to be sold on the Sales Order via the Details section.
- Click on Create Sales Order.
NOTE If there are Product Purchase Schedules that have quantities greater than Sales Order Lines already created, the remaining quantity for the next schedule is used to default the Qty This Order values, but can be overridden.
NOTE The SO creation is processed via a background job (using SOAPI records to add the order) so there will be a slight delay before the Sales Order is actually created.
Adding Sales Orders via Sales Order Entry:
- Using the standard Sales Order Entry process, create a new Sales Order.
- Once the Customer is entered, the Sales Contract dropdown will populate with active Sales Contracts.
- Select the Sales Contract.
NOTE The Sales Contract must be selected in the SO Add process and cannot be set after the SO has been saved.
Sales Order Entry for Entitlements:
The process for adding Sales Orders for Entitlement Products is similar to adding a SO for Products for Purchase, but the pricing logic is different, obtaining Entitlement Pricing for those orders that are within the Entitlement “limits” defined for the associated Entitlement. When Entitlement pricing is being used, no other price lookups are performed.
NOTE Entitlement pricing logic will only be invoked when the Sales Order references the Sales Contract.
