OverviewKey concepts and object relationship options when using a Company Master set up with Centralized Sales and Centralized Engineering Divisions. This content applies to inventory-based Products (Configured, Stock & Kit).
ApplicationImportant notes regarding Centralized Sales and Centralized Engineering:
- Centralized Engineering companies may only have one Engineering Division, defined as Centralized Engineering Division.
- Centralized Engineering companies may only create Engineering Item Master records for the Engineering Division but can have Inventory Item Master records for multiple divisions (within those flagged as 'Inventory Active').
- When creating 'Engineering Item Master' records, user can check 'Add Inventory Item in Multiple Divisions' box to add the Inventory Item to other divisions besides the one specified on the Engineering Item record getting created.
- Users can create 'Inventory Item Master' records for those Divisions flagged as 'Inventory Active' and link them to an 'Engineering Item' created for the Centralized Engineering Division, at any point.
- Centralized Sales companies may only have one Sales Division, defined as Centralized Sales Division, and therefore only one Sales Order Control record.
- Centralized Sales companies may only create Product Master and Sales Orders for the Centralized Sales Division but can define the Inventory for a Product/SO Line to be Shipped (Issued) from a different Inventory Division.
- The Product Master may have a 'Default Inventory Division' (Product Master > Inventory tab) that is different from the Product Master's Division.
- The 'Default Inventory Division' is used to filter qualifying Inventory Items records both under Product Master > Inventory tab, and when using Product Master > Inventory Items Tab ('Selectable Associated Inventory Item' box active).
- If the Multiple Inventory Divisions box is checked (Product Master > Inventory tab), the user can navigate to the 'Inventory Division' tab to add multiple Inventory Divisions from where to ship the goods.
- Each Inventory Division added must have an 'Inventory Item' record linked to the same Engineering Item Master as the Inventory Item defined on the Inventory tab, but created for said Inventory Divisions. For more details see Product Master > Inventory Division tab.
- If the user attempts to add an 'Inventory Division' entry for the Product and its Inventory Item or defined inventory-based Product Components do not have qualifying Inventory Item Master for that inventory division, below error message is thrown:
Error:
Item ZZ does not exist in Inventory Division YY.
- Similarly, products with type 'Kit' can also be defined with multiple Inventory Divisions. In this case, each Inventory-based Product Component for said Kit Product would need to have an 'Inventory Item Master' record for each of the Inventory Divisions defined for the Product Master. This also applies for 'Configured' products that have inventory-based Product Components.
Error:
The Item does not exist in the YY Division
- While adding a Sales Order Line for a Product that has multiple Inventory Division options, the Inventory Division dropdown will be available for edits, and the user is able to pick from which Inventory Division the item is expected to be issued from those setup on the Product Master > Inventory Division tab.
- When adding SO Lines for Configured Products, any BOM components defined for the Engineering Item Master will need to have an 'Inventory Item Master' for each inventory Division where the parent has an 'Inventory Item Master', otherwise a processing error is thrown when adding a SO Line for the Product and Inventory Division.
Error:
Line XX: Error while processing BOM. Cannot find Inventory Item in division YY for Item ZZ.

- Products and Sales Orders may only be created for the centralized Sales Division 1.
- Engineering Items may only be created for the Centralized Engineering Division 2.
- Multiple Divisions could have Inventory Items (Inventory Item X, Inventory Item Y, Inventory Item Z, etc..), each of these would need to reference an Engineering Item from Division 2.
- Products can be created with a 'Default Inventory Division' different than the Sales Division 1. With an option to add additional 'Inventory Divisions'.
- The additional Inventory Divisions need to contain Inventory Items that share the Engineering Item of the Inventory Item defined on Product Master > Inventory tab.
- Alternatively, Inventory Items for the 'Default Inventory Division', defined on Product Master > Inventory tab, may be added when 'Selectable Associated Inventory Item' is checked.
