Overview
The configuration charts listed in this article define possible object structures based on Centralized settings for Sales and Engineering on the Company Master.
Application
When deciding how your business process structure will be handled in Rootstock, consider below Product / Engineering / Inventory Items combinations, which will be affected throughout the Sales Process.
These different configuration structures apply to Products that are linked to Inventory Items applicable to the following Product Types:
- Stock
- Configured
- Kits (Division correspondence must be met on Product Components instead of Product's Inventory Items)
How to read the Charts - Legend for Configuration Charts
Sales Division: A Division can be considered a Sales Division when a SO Control record exists for it. Sales Orders and Product Masters can only be created for Sales Divisions. Companies with a Division defined as Centralized Sales only allow one Sales Division.
Product Master: Listed Products Masters in charts show for which Sales Divisions the Product creation is allowed.
Engineering Item Master (PEITEM): If using Centralized Engineering, all the PEITEM records will be exclusively created in the Engineering Division. Inventory Items related to the PEITEM may be added for one or many of the divisions flagged with Inventory Active.
Inv Division or Inventory Division: Even though the Product's Division and therefore Sales Division for the Sales Order may be X, the Product and therefore the Sales Order Line may be linked to Inventory Division 'Y'. In this case, the fulfillment of available Inventory for the SO Line will be processed from this Division 'Y'. The Inventory Division is from where the Inventory is issued (picked).
Inventory Item Master (ICITEM): Record to be used for Inventory transactions and inventory availability estimation. Sales Order Lines are linked to Inventory Item records, that drive the Inventory Demand for the line and reference an Inventory Division.
BOM Components: Engineering 'Bill Of Materials' Master for the Inventory Items linked to the Product Master (either on Product Master > Inventory tab or Product Master > Inventory Divisions tab, if using a Kit Product, it will be for those Inventory Product Components under Product Master > Product Components tab), references the inventory Item records that need to exists and in which division, in order to be able to successfully create the Product Master and/or use it on a Sales Order Line.
Configuration Charts
IMPORTANT The structural schemas include details based on Company settings for Engineering and Sales Divisions and cases where extra Inventory Divisions may be assigned to the Product Master by using those listed on
Product Master Inventory Division Tab, and are therefore available on SO Line for the Product. These extra Inventory Division records can be created
ONLY when using Centralized Engineering, and a given Engineering Item has Inventory Items in multiple Inventory Divisions. one of these Inventory Items is designated by default on the Product Master > Inventory tab (required to create a Stock or Configured product), and the rest may be added at a later point by clicking the box
Multiple Inventory Divisions and adding desired rows under the Inventory Divisions tab.
Important to note that this Inventory Divisions functionality cannot be used at the same time as
Selectable Associated Inventory Item (Product Master Inventory Items Tab), which provides a different solution to add other inventory Items than the one set by default on the
Product Master Inventory Tab, for the
Default Inventory Division.SEE ALSO
