OverviewDescribes key concepts and object relationship options when using a Company Master not set up with either centralized Sales or Engineering Divisions.
ApplicationImportant notes regarding non-Centralized Sales/Engineering Companies:
- Non-Centralized Engineering companies may create Engineering Item Master records for multiple divisions.
- Each 'Engineering Item' may only have one related 'Inventory Item', both of these records within the same division.
- Non-Centralized Sales companies may have multiple Sales Divisions (each of them should have a Sales Order Control record).
- Each Sales Division may be used to create Product Master records and Sales Orders, but can define the Inventory for a Product/SO Line to be Shipped (Issued) from a different Inventory Division, by defining a 'Default Inventory Division'
- Product Master may have a 'Default Inventory Division' (Product Master > Inventory tab) that is different from the Product Master's Division.
- The 'Default Inventory Division' is used to filter qualifying Inventory Item records both under Product Master > Inventory tab, and when using Product Master > Inventory Items Tab ('Selectable Associated Inventory Item' box active).
- Inventory-Based Product Components added for 'Configured' or 'Kit' Products must have an Inventory Item for the 'Default Inventory Division' (Product Master > Inventory tab).
- When using Selectable Associated Inventory Item box (Product Master > Inventory tab), multiple items for the 'Default Inventory Division' can be added to Product Master > Inventory Items Tab, from which user has the option to choose when adding a new SO Line.
- Multiple Inventory Divisions box (Product Master > Inventory tab) can be checked, but it does not apply for Non-Centralized engineering Companies.
Notes about above chart:
- Products can be created for multiple Sales Divisions (Product A, Product B, Product C..)
- Engineering Items may be created within multiple Divisions.
- Multiple Divisions could have Inventory Items (Inventory Item X, Inventory Item Y, Inventory Item Z, etc..), each of these would need to reference its own Engineering Item, both for the same Division. This happens automatically when the Engineering Item Master is created.
- Products could be created with a 'Default Inventory Division' different than the Sales Division 1 or 2, with an option to add additional 'Inventory Divisions'.
- The additional Inventory Divisions need to contain Inventory Items that share the Engineering Item of the Inventory Item defined on Product Master > Inventory tab.
- Alternatively, Inventory Items for the 'Default Inventory Division', defined on Product Master > Inventory tab, may be added when 'Selectable Associated Inventory Item' is checked.
- There could be a Product C on Division 3, which does not have any Inventory items but where Sales Orders and Products are added/created. The inventory would always be issued from a different Inventory Division than the Sales Division.
