Overview
Rootstock’s Warranty Management functionality provides a flexible system for assigning and maintaining user defined Warranty Types (defined at the Sales Order Control (Warranty & RMA Tab), Product Group (Order Processing Tab) or Product Master (Order Processing Tab) level) which are used to initialize warranty durations and expiration dates for shipped serialized products aka Shipped Item Warranty.
Products can be serialized from their inception (upon PO Receipt or Work Order Completion) or be serialized at the time of Sales Order shipment (with automatic or manually assigned serial numbers). To be included in the Warranty subsystem, products or product components must be serialized from inception and have an associated Warranty Types record at time of shipment via Sales Order Fulfillment.
The Sales Order Module supports Product Installation Addresses (in addition to Ship-To Addresses) and this information is carried to the Warranty Detail.
Thru the Warranty Detail, serialized products and components can be associated with Cases, RMAs and servicing Sales Orders, and can have an associated Device History Record, which shows ‘as built’ vs. ‘as maintained’.
Servicing and Maintenance of serialised Items is simplified as you can link Cases, Returns, and Service Sales Orders for quicker access to related information.
Additionally, the Warranty Detail is the gateway through which shipped Serialized Products and Product Components can be associated with Sales Contracts. It also is used in the Rootstock Product Entitlement and Recurring Billing subsystems.
