Back Schedule a Work Order

How it Works

Scheduling a Work Order in Rootstock will run the schedule forward from the Release Date to determine how close the Scheduled Completion Date is from the Due Date. The Release Date is then adjusted accordingly and the forward schedule is re-run until the Scheduled Completion Date matches the Due Date. It will then reset the Scheduled Firm/Release/Pick dates accordingly.

Back Schedule

By enabling the 'Reset WO Release Date After Op Extract' on the Division object, the Work Orders selected to be scheduled on the Work Order Scheduling page will get back scheduled. This works, as it does for forward scheduling, for all Work Orders with a status of 2,3,4,5, and 7. However, if an activity has already started on the Work Order then back scheduling has no effect since the release date can no longer be modified.

The Main Reasons to Back Schedule:
  1. To get a more accurate date to begin the Work Order based on Shop Calendar Data rather than lead times.
  2. To accurately recalculate the Firm/Release/Pick dates backwards from the Work Order Due Date, when the date is changed.
