Configuration Selection Component: Feature Detail

Overview

Features functionality can be used in conjunction with Product Configurator in order to export, to an Inventory by Serial Number record, the Feature Details contained in the Selection Selection Components added during the Configuration Session.


Prerequisites

1. System Defaults

• Check Item Feature Active checkbox.

2. Feature Category

   • Create Feature Categories (Category examples could be Color, Year, Model, Material, etc). 

   • After Saving a Feature Category a new tab will appear with a button to Add/Delete Features

   • Click on said button to add Features on pop-up window. Save once completed.

3. Configuration Selection Component > Feature Details tab

   • Edit Configuration Selection Component records and use the 'Feature Category typeahead field to select a 'Feature Category' from those created on previous step.

   • The drop down 'Feature' will populate with available options from the chosen 'Feature Category'. Select desired Category and save the Configuration Selection Component record.

Processing

Step 1 - Product Configurator

• Create a Configuration Session for a configurable Product Master.

Step 2 - Configuration Session > Inventory tab

• Edit the Configuration Session

• Check 'Export Features to Serialized Item' checkbox, and type-ahead field 'Manufactured Item' will be enabled for edits.

• Type and select a 'Manufactured Item' to export Features to, from Inventory Items within the current Inventory Division. Disassembly Items do not qualify.

• Type and select the 'Inventory by Serial Number' from those records available for the selected Manufactured Item. Save the changes.

  NOTE  This will require the user to previously create Inventory by Serial Number records, which can be done directly on the Site Map. This is a reference record, does not actually count towards any existing inventory for this serial number.
 

• Dive through the Configuration Session as desired, to select and configure the session structure from available Group/Selection/Components

Step 3 - Export Configuration button

• Press 'Export Configuration' in order to export the Session.

• Because ''Export Features to Serialized Item' is active, the Configuration Session will not be exported to a Sales Order Header and Sales Order Lines. Instead, the Feature Categories and Features from those Configuration Session Components will be fetched and exported to the specified Inventory by Serial Number record.

• Exported features will be created with below characteristics, one entry per each Configured Selection Component setup with Features that was added during the Configuration Session:

  • Active  = Checked

  • Date Added =  Today's Date

  • Feature Category = Defined Feature Category on source Configuration Selection Component

  • Feature = Defined Feature on source Configuration Selection Component

• Features output of Session Export can be reviewed on Inventory by Serial > Features tab

  NOTE  Features to be exported that already exist on given Inventory by Serial Number record will be ignored, they will not be added as duplicates.
