Overview
A Configuration Selection may have Exclusions, Requirements and/or Recommendations. These will create incompatible selections (which are automatically disabled for addition during the Configuration Session), mandatory selections (which are auto-selected and cannot be deselected during the Configuration Session), and/or recommended selections (marked as recommended during the Configuration Session).
1. Selection Exclusion
Allows the user to establish “incompatible selections”. Create ‘Selection Exclusions’ in cases where, when one particular Selection is made, other possible Selections are incompatible with it and should therefore be excluded.
EXAMPLE If Selection A is selected, this can be used to then dis-allow the selection of Selection B, because Selection A cannot be used with Selection B.
Navigation
Configuration Group > Group Selections tab > Configuration Selection button > Exclusions tab
NOTE Although there is a separate menu option under the ‘Sales Order Setup’ menu, it is advised that Configuration Selections be created and maintained by using the Exclusions tab.
Fields
Group One: The Group for which the Exclusion applies when used in the configuration process.
Selection One: The Selection for which the Exclusion applies when used in the configuration process.
Description (Optional): Optional user-defined description up to 50 characters in length.
Group Two (Required): The Group that contains the specified Selection to be excluded when used in the configuration process.
Selection Two (Required): The Selection that is to be excluded from this Group's Selection when used in the configuration process.
NOTE Exclusions work 'both ways' in that Selection One is excluded from Selection Two and vice versa.
Product Specific (Optional): The Product for which this Exclusion applies.
Comment (Optional): Optional user-defined comment up to 100 characters.
Reason for Exclusion (for UI) (Required): The user-defined message that will be displayed in the UI during the configuration process when hovering over the excluded selection. Can be up to 100 characters in length.
2. Selection Requirement
Requires the Configuration Session to make a selection based upon a prior selection. In this case, the selection is automatically done and disabled in the UI, preventing the user from changing it.
Create ‘Selection Requirements’ in use cases where when a Selection is made, that choice requires another Selection choice to be made.
EXAMPLE Selection 1 is made, Selection 2 is automatically selected (and cannot be deselected) because, in order to use Selection 1, Selection 2 is required.
IMPORTANT This involves another Selection choice to be made automatically by the system.
Navigation
Configuration Group > Group Selections tab > Configuration Selection button > Requirements tab
NOTE Although there is a separate menu option under the ‘Sales Order Setup’ menu, it is advised that Configuration Selections be created and maintained by using the Requirements tab.

When From Group (Required): The Configuration Group for which the Requirement applies when used in the configuration process.

Require From Group (Required): The Group from which the Selection Requirement exists.
Require This Selection (Required): The Selection that is required.
Product Specific (Optional): The Product for which this Requirement applies.
Comment (Optional): Optional user-defined comment up to 100 characters.
3. Selection Recommendation
The Configuration process supports the ability to show recommended options. These can be specified directly on the Configuration Selection, by checking the 'Recommended Selection' checkbox or be based on the selection of another option. This object contains a ‘when this selection is made’ selection and a ‘then recommend this selection’.
Create ‘Selection Recommendations’ where, when a Configuration Selection is made, another Selection choice is flagged as recommended (but not required).
EXAMPLE If Selection X is made, Selection Y is flagged as “recommended” on the Configuration Session.
