Overview
Use this function to add a new BOM containing either one or multiple components.
Application
The BOM Mass Add page provides the means to add the basic data required for each individual component on a single page, rather than the conventional means of adding one record at a time using Engineering BOM Master.
NOTE More detailed data settings are managed from the Engineering BOM Master screen.

Processing
1. Enter each required field following field help guidance and drop down options.
Fields
Assembly Item (Required): Enter Assembly Item (aka parent item).
- If Revision Control is active, a new Engineering Item Revision must be created first for the parent item, by clicking the Add Revision link on the Revisions tab on the Engineering Item Master page. The new revision must be at status 'Pending' or 'Released' to be used for adding new components.
- If ECO Control is active, a new ECO must be created first, and the parent item has to be added to the new ECO, which will create a new revision for the parent. The ECO must be at status 'Pending' or 'Released' for the parent item revision to be used for adding new components.
- Once all new components are added to the BOM, the Add Revision must be updated to 'Implemented' status for the components to be effective. With Revision Control active, the Item Revision Status has to be changed to 'Implemented'. With ECO Active, the Item Revision is implemented by changing the ECO Status to 'Implemented'.
Add Revision (Required): Select Add Revision from the drop down.
Component Item (Required): Enter a valid Component Item by selecting from the drop down.
Line number (Optional): Line number of the item in the Bill of Material.
Qty Per (Required): Quantity per of the component item in the parent Bill of Material.
Scrap Factor (Optional): The value factor the quantity per to account for planned scrap.
Setup Qty: Enter a value when a fixed quantity of the component is required for setup prior to the actual manufacturing process.
2. Click ‘Save’ Button
TIP One or more component items can be added to the Assembly Item using this screen. Simply click ‘Add’ to open new lines.
NOTE The Remove button is used to remove component items added in this session that have not been saved yet. It is not for deleting component items previously added to the BOM.
NOTE There is also an optional Reference Designator add capability to this process, which can be activated by an option on the Division Master record. (Navigation = System Setup > Division Master.)
