Overview
A Shipping Container is optionally created during the Sales Order Fulfillment and shipment process. Shipping Containers can be created in two manners. First, it can be automatically created using the Auto-Create Containers function by selecting the Shipper Number in the Sales Order Fulfillment function or by selecting the Shipper Header item in the Sales Order Processing app. And second, they can be created manually using the Shipping Header item in the Sales Order Processing app.
Setup
The following are the setup activities for the creation of Shipping Containers.
Container Type: Define the Container Type. For use with both the Auto-Create Containers and the manual creation of containers. These are whether the Auto-Create or manual entry of the Shipping Container is used.
The following are fields on the Product Master record used with the Auto-Create Shipping Container.
Product Master > Order Processing Section: On the Product Master select the ‘Default Container Type’ and ‘Default Qty Per Container’ fields.
Product Master > Product Attributes Section: Enter the ‘Weight’, ‘Height’, ‘Width’, ‘Length’, and ‘Dimension UOM’ fields.
Processing - Auto-Create Shipping Container
The Auto-Create Shipper will create the Shipping Container based on the Product Master Order Processing section, Default Container Type and Default Qty Per Container Settings and using the Product Attributes Section values Weight’, ‘Height’, ‘Width’, ‘Length’ and ‘Dimension UOM’ fields.
To Auto-Create from SO Fulfillment
1. After Pack is complete
2. Select the Shipper Number on the row
3. Select Related
4. In the Actions, select Auto-Create Shipping Containers
5. After the Shipping Container is created, as necessary select Related and select the Shipping Container to maintain. Selection includes; Packing Slip; Bill of Lading; Add/Remove Child Container(s).
To Auto-Create Container from the Shipper Header
1. Select the Shipper Header item from the Sales Order Process App
2. Select the Shipper Number
3. Select Related
4. In the Actions, select Auto-Create Containers
5. After the Shipping Container is created, as necessary select Related and select the Shipping Container to maintain. Selection includes; Packing Slip; Bill of Lading; Add/Remove Child Container(s).
NOTE The ‘Default Container Type’ and ‘Quantity per Container’ must be defined for all the Products on the given Shipper.
NOTE User can choose not to use the Auto-Create and manually create the Shipping Container.
NOTE When the Auto-Create is used, the Sales Order Shipping Container Details are also created. To access, select Related from the Shipping Container record.
Processing - Mannually create the Shipping Container
1. After the Sales Order Fulfillment Pack has been completed
2. Select Shipping Container item from the Sales Order Process App
3. Select New
Shipping Container - Information Section
Fields
Division: The division in which the Shipping Container is being created.
Container ID: A unique identifier of the container. When not using auto-create these are manually assigned. When using auto-create is it set to the shipper number.
Container Type: Select from the defined containers in Container Type. When using auto-create it is set from the Rootstock Product Master, order processing section.
Net Weight: Gross Weight less the Tare Weight.
Tare Weight: Empty weight of the container.
Gross Weight: Total weight of the container (tare) and container contents.
Shipping Description: User defined description of this container. 100 characters.
Packing Slip Number: Packing Slip number of the shipper being containerized. The field is populated if the Packing Slip was generated for the Shipper.
Bill of Lading Number: Bill of Lading number associated with the Shipper being containerized. The field is populated only if a Bill of Lading was generated for the Shipper being containerized.
Value of Contents: Declared Value of the content of the container.
Carrier: The carrier for this container.
Total Child Net Weight: When consolidating containers, if this is the parent container this is the total net weight of the child (subordinate) containers placed in the parent.
Total Child Tare Weight: When consolidating containers, if this is the parent container this is the total tare weight of the child (subordinate) containers placed in the parent.
Total Child Gross Weight: When consolidating containers, if this is the parent container this is the total gross weight of the child (subordinate) containers placed in the parent.
Ship Method: Ship method specified for this container.
FOB: The FOB of this shipment.
Freight Terms: The freight terms for this container.
Tracking Number: Used to record the carrier tracking number once the container is shipped.
Parent Container ID: Used when one or more containers are consolidated into another container.
Inventory Container: The Inventory Container associated with the Sales Order Container used in Sales Order Fulfillment.
Date Shipped: Automatically set to the system date when the container is shipped.
First Shipper: Shipper associated with this container.
NOTE Multiple Shipping Containers per Sales Order Shipper can be created.
Shipping Container - Address Section
Fields
Ship to Address 1: Number and street name, typically.
Ship to Address 2: Suite or unit number, typically.
Ship to Address 3: Address extensions, when applicable.
Ship to City: Ship to City.
Ship to Country: Ship to Country.
Ship to Email: Email associated with the Ship to Address.
Ship to Fax: Fax associated with the Ship to Address.
Ship to Name: Name associated with the Ship to Address.
Ship to Phone: Phone associated with the Ship to Address.
Ship to State: State or province.
Ship to Zip Code: Zip Code or Postal Code of the Ship to Address.
ISO Country Code: ISO Code of the country being shipping to.
Value of Contents: User entered declared value of the container contents.
Sales Order Shipping Container Detail
This record contains detailed information about the content of the shipper. It is accessed using the Shipping Container, Related.
Information Section
Fields
Container ID: The container ID with which the Container Detail is associated.
Shipper Line: The Shipper Line this record is associated with.
Shipper Demand: System Populated.
Product Component: The inventory item associated with the product shipped.
Quantity: The quantity of the product component.
Net Weight: Net weight of the product component.
Tare Weight: Tare weight of the product Component.
Comments: User entered comments.
Manual Method
A Shipping Container may be added directly by accessing ‘Shipping Container’ from the Sales Oder Processing menu.
To do so, complete the “header” portion of the page, then associate Shipper Lines under the ‘Container Detail’ section.
