Engineering BOM Mass Replace
Processing
1. Enter the required data
Fields
Existing Item: Enter the Engineering Item to replace.
Replace With Item: Enter the Engineering Item that is replacing the Existing Item.
Effective Date: Select the date on which the replacement is to be effective.
Status: Select the status of the new item in the BOM:
- Pending
- Released
- Implemented
2. Click the ‘Perform Mass Replace’ button to update all existing BOM structures that include this replacement Item.
3. Upon completion, the page will indicate how many BOMs were affected by the change.
NOTE Revision Control and Engineering Change Order Control (ECO) Considerations:
- If Revision Control ONLY is active, select the Revision Status for the replacement BOM component record, Planned or Released. It will default to the Initial Eng. Revision Status on the Division Master record. After you have clicked ‘Perform Mass Replace’, the component change will not be in effect until the Revision status is changed to ‘Implemented’.
- The indented BOM will display both the original component and replacement component. Hovering over the icons to the left of the component item numbers will display the status of each, along with other pertinent data.
- If ECO is active, the system will automatically create an ECO to handle the mass update. The ECO will be created in ‘Released’ status, and the BOM change will not be effective until the ECO is manually implemented.
- See page help for Revision Control and Engineering Change Control for a much more in-depth discussion of these functions.
