Overview
The Generate Simulated Rollup cost program option calculates the simulated single level and cumulative simulated unit costs and populates the CSITEM object. . The Apply Simulated Simulated Rollup Cost populates the Inventory Item Standard Cost Cumulative Simulated and Single Level Simulated fields from the CSITEM object.
Program Process - Generate Simulated Rollup Cost
Purchased Items: The purchased items are processed and their single level material cost is set to the value from the Item’s Inventory Item Std Cost > Simulated Purchase Price field. Additionally, the subcontract items are processed and their single level subcontract material unit cost is set to the value from the Item’s Simulated Purchase Price.
Manufactured Items
For a manufactured item, The Bill of Material (BOM) Low Level Code is used. The cost rollup program begins calculations at the lowest level in the BOM and processes to the highest level in the BOM. The following are used to calculate manufacturing labor cost, machine costs and overhead costs and material cost.
-
The manufactured item’s Routing Operations times
-
Routing Labor times
-
Routing Labor Grade Rates assigned to each routing operation
-
Machine Times
-
Machine Rates
-
Department Overhead Rates for the Work Center specified in the routing operation
-
Purchased Item Inventory Item Std Cost > Simulated Purchase Price.
-
Inventory Item Master > Material Overhead Rate
The Generate Rollup Cost option creates a Simulated Rollup Cost record in the object CSITEM. This record contains this most recent Simulated Rollup Cost values for both purchased and manufactured items.

Fields
Division: Division in which the program is to be run.
Cost Rollup Calculation Run Indicator: When the Cost Rollup Simulation Run indicator is checked and the ‘Submit' button is selected, the simulated rollup cost of items is calculated. The results of the simulation calculations are held in the CSITEM object. The costs can be reviewed using the Costed BOM Reports Types: Cost Rollup Single Level Simulated and Cost Rollup Cumulative Simulated. The Cost Simulation Rollup Calculation Run can be run as required. It updates the CSITEM object records, It does not update the Inventory Item Standard Cost record.
Move Costs to Simulated Cost Fields Indicator: When the Move Costs to Simulated Cost Fields indicator is checked and the 'Submit’ button is selected, the latest Cost Rollup Simulation Run values in the CSITEM object are moved to the Inventory Item Standard Cost record fields in the Cumulative Simulated Tab and the Single Level Simulated.
Effective Date: This is the date that is used in exploding the Effective Bill of Material and the extraction of the Effective Routing Operations.
Move Costs to Simulated Cost Fields: If this check box is checked, the Cost Rollup Master Record fields(CSITEM) are used to update the corresponding Inventory Item Standard Cost Master record fields.
NOTE If the 'Simulated Cost Update' Option, on the Inventory Item Standard Costs record header, is set to ‘Manual’, those item’s costs are not moved from the Cost Rollup Master Record (CSITEM) to the Inventory Item Standard Costs Record.
Rollup for an Individual Item: This represents the ID of an individual inventory item for which the cost rollup needs to be performed.
NOTE If this field 'Rollup for an Individual Item' is left blank, the cost rollup will run for all the items in the selected Division.
Individual Item Rollup Method: This represents the cost rollup method for an individual inventory item. The two methods are as follows:
-
Single Level: When selected, the cost rollup is run for the requested inventory item from its immediate components in the BOM.
-
Multi Level: When selected, the cost rollup is run for the requested inventory item via a full bottom-up roll for all the requested item's descendants in the BOM.
NOTE If an item is specified in the '
Rollup for an Individual Item' field and no value is set in the '
Individual Item Rollup Method' field, then the process will run for the 'Single Level' rollup method.
