Overview

Work Orders are created in one of four possible ways:

  1. MRP Planned Work Orders
  2. Manually Entered Work Orders
  3. Work Orders Created from Sales Order Lines
  4. Work Orders Entered using Data Loader (from .csv file)

MRP Planned Work Orders

The first method is through Material Requirements Planning (MRP). When MRP determines a need for a manufactured item, it generates a Planned (status 1) Work Order to cover that need. The MRP Planned Work Order is the result of MRP analyzing demands and supplies, using the MRP Policy Codes and Values, and then creating the supplies (Work Orders) to meet the unsatisfied demands. MRP only generates Work Orders for inventory items.

Planner Manually Entered Work Orders

The second method is manual entry. When the Planner has identified that a Work Order is required, the User selects the New Work Order button on the “List View” display and enters the required information. All Work Order types (Manufacturing, Rework, Refurbish, Disassembly, Labor Only) may be manually entered.

Work Orders Created from Sales Order Lines

Under certain conditions, Work Orders may be created automatically from a Sales Order Line. The Work Order is created when the Sales Order Line is “firmed”. The Work Order created from a Sales Order Line is created at Status 2 (Firm).

Work Orders Entered using Data Loader (from .csv file)
