Types of Work Orders provide the User with varying capabilities to meet certain requirements. Several Work Order types are available within Rootstock. The most common is referred to as the Standard Work Order, which is used to manufacture Inventory Items and may be generated by Materials Requirement Planning or created manually.
  • Standard Work Orders:  These types of Work Orders are created to manufacture an inventory item, assembly or sub-assembly. The Work Order is planned by Materials Requirement Planning or manually created.
  • Rework Work Orders:  A manually created Work Order used to rework an item currently in inventory to change or update its form, fit or function.
  • Labor Only Work Orders:  A Work Order created for reporting labor hours only.

  • Disassembly Work Orders:  In concept, this is a "take apart" Work Order. The item to be taken apart known as a "disassembly Item" is issued to the Work Order and received into inventory are the components of the take apart process known as "derive components'. Materials consumed during the disassembly process, known as "consumable components", can be issued to the Work Order.
  • Refurbish Work Orders:  A manually created Work Order used to update the functionality or replace components to inventory items.
User-added image  EXAMPLE  An upgrade to a customer's returned unit. A Refurbish Work Order can be for a consigned item (customer property in inventory at zero value) or an item in inventory.
  • Inspection Order:  Inspection Work Orders are used when Rootstock and Quality Application is interfacing. It serves to hold inventory while the quality application inspection process is being done. Inspection Orders can be initiated from:
    • Purchase Order Receipts
    • Return Material Authorization
    • Inventory
    • Sales Order Fulfillment
    • Work Order Operation
